'I was having this awful nightmare that I was 32. And then I woke up and I was 23. So relieved. And then I woke up for real, and I was 32.' - Celine, Before Sunset

Paranoia Induced Anxiety

You sleep at night wondering about the dawn to come
About things prepared for you by fate
You dream about journeys far off your usual path
And put them aside by the time you wake

I envy those whose dreams they make
Whose lives are as they have always wanted
I pity, nay, abhor my weak resolve
For it has led me nowhere far where I have started

I close my eyes to the day that has passed
And weigh my weary head to the comforts of recline
I wait for the darkness to accompany peace
And surrender to the chaos; to the thoughts in my mind

#010: 5 Things to do this Holiday Season!

1) Be a film critic for a day!

Don't let the fact that Narnia got bumped off its December release ruin your Chirstmas break. Have fun with family or close friends weeding the good and the bad out of the Metro Manila Film Festival! You'll sure get a kick out of some of the stunts and antics they pull off yearly just to get a film out for the running. Dramas become comedies and comedies become dramas (maiiyak ka sa panget!).

2) Try mixing drinks for the holidays!

This is fun. Turn drabby get-togethers into fabulous cocktail parties! Go to http://www.mixed-drink.com/or http://www.webtender.com/ and get started mixing basic alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Check out your local grocery store's wine selection. You'll be surprised on how blending some common and inexpensive spirits and spritzers could go a long way. Margaritas anyone?

3) Get that facial done!

Bleach, peel, prick, pop! Get it done early during vacation and you're perfect by the time you get back to the office 2 weeks after! You may even squeeze in that liposuction you've always wanted.

4) Redesign your Boudoir!

Is you room still stuck in the 80's? Maybe that's not so bad but molds and peeling paint sure are nasty. Take advantage of the holiday mall sale and amp up your space! A new paint job, curtains, sheets, carpet, lighting and a mini hi-fi system surely won't hurt. HGTV has some cool ideas to get you off the ground. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_room_design

5) Tell that secret crush you like him/her!

Do this just before you break for the holidays. If he/she says he/she likes you too, then you're golden! If he/she hesitates, you can tell him/her to think about it over the holidays. If he/she rejects you, well... at least you have 2 weeks to get over it. This is not a perfect plan but at least it will get things moving. Who knows? The holiday cheers may help you recieve a more thoughtful and merrier response. =)

Are you just being nice?

I find myself making something out of nothing.
Small meaningless acts play in my mind like whirlpools.
Passing words end up ringing in deep sleep.

Should I do something? Should I act?
Would I even get something back?
What if I falter? What if I'm wrong?
If rejection comes, will I be strong?

Are you just being nice?
I'm lost.

Game... Hingis!

There's just no other tennis player like Martina Hingis. She has inspired the world round with her amazing court sense and craft. She has great wisdom in the sport and is being hailed as the smartest to have ever played the game.

After retiring abruptly end of 2002 because of injury, she's now coming back!

Fans all over are cheering on this announcement. Today's game is dominated by strength and brute athleticism. Hingis will be a refreshing addition to the roster with her game built on finesse, chess-like tactics & prestine shotmaking.

We've all missed her. Welcome back Martina! Win some for me! =)

Whose Birthday!?

Crazy bunch

Crazy ass f*ckers could not think of a different way to celebrate a birthday than to watch yet another gig of Side A!

At this point, I'm wondering whose birthdays we are celebrating. Truth be told, not only during birthdays do we need to endure a Side A shindig. Last time, it was a send off. Then there was a welcome back. I'm just waiting for a first menstruation celebrated with Side A!

Luv ya Marchae!

What happened to our cultural identity?

New Friends
Originally uploaded by Mark Ordoñez.

I got to talk to my team mates from Thailand & India while they were here last week and I realized that, unlike them, we do not have much of a cultural identity.

It certainly did not help that we were Spanishized, Americanized & Japanized. They have their deeply rooted beliefs and customs common to them. We do not have that. They have their dietary restrictions. We do not have that. They have the cultural bounty and security not to actively seek the latest and the greatest of foreign imports. We do have that.

What exactly do we have? As of now, a cultural mixture as a result of globalization - a mixture that is uniquely Filipino.

My team mates found that especially interesting. =)

Why bother?

Goblet of Fire is coming... Manila will be one of the first countries to have it. I believe even ealier regular screenings than the States because we premiere movies Wednesdays while them Fridays. Hehehe... I guess being third world doesn't mean we can't spend on movies.

I have recently installed a wireless router at home for our DSL connection. In 2 weeks, from a crappy 1 pc - modem system to a beefed up 2 pc, 1 laptop - wireless network. Not bad. Not bad at all. Now, about keeping my sisters from downloading everyhting on the internet about F4...

Desperate Housewives is moving along in the States. And I have seen the first 3 episodes already of the second season. Yeah... those bitches are even crazier this time around!

Mobile devices these days are getting more complicated & expensive by the minute! This time next year I bet they already have everthing running on electricity in one device. It's hard keeping up! I buy a new phone today, tomorrow half of the folks I ride with in the suttle service to work will have an even newer phone half the price I bought mine! I've leaned my lesson, I buy my phones now the same week they release them. So that I have at least a month or so of bragging rights before everybody else catches on. Downside is I pay something like 10k more than if I buy it a month after. But take my word for it, the shock and awe in the faces of my shuttle mates as they see my spanking new phone - priceless.

I noticed that in the past year that the biggest news are about natural disasters. 1 Tsunami, 2 Hurricanes, 1 Earthquake. Are we seeing the beginnings of the Day After Tomorrow? I would I say yes... but if we spot a meteor or a comet heading earth's orbit in a week or so, then maybe Armageddon? Something big is going to happen... I can just feel it.

But then again... I'm just bloated worthless git ... so why bother?
